As in past years, CSSV is supporting the Palm Sunday action to stand in solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers – please join us!
This is a community event for justice, respect and kindness, calling for communities in which everyone can feel safe and respected, and refugees are welcomed.
This event is in the long tradition of calling for peace and social justice on Palm Sunday.

The event will affirm the strength of our multicultural and diverse communities. Let’s stand together as Australians who have come from many lands, with the shared desire to live in peace and safety. Let’s stand up for fairness. Everyone in Australia should be able to feel confident that they will be treated fairly, and that their human rights will be respected, by the government, and by other community members. We want Australia to remain a welcoming place for all, and especially for those who come here to find safety. We must not allow fear and division to tear at the rich fabric of our multicultural society.
We also call for the fair treatment of refugees:
- Fair and fast assessment of claims for refugee status
- Dignity for people claiming asylum – income support, work and study rights
- Do not leave people in visa limbo for years
- Rescue the people seeking asylum now abandoned in Pt Moresby after 13 years of exile
- Raise the refugee quota and resettle those stranded in Indonesia since 2014
