In advocating for the just and humane treatment of people seeking asylum in Australia, we are pleased to be joining the Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum (CAPSA), Jesuit Social Services and Xavier Social Justice Network to walk at this years Palm Sunday Walk. We invite you to join with us alongside social service staff, volunteers, parishioners, priests and individuals from Catholic schools, churches and communities across Victoria as we march together this Palm Sunday at the Walk for Justice for Refugees.
CAPSA have made arrangements to meet together before the event begins, and Fr Andy Hamilton SJ will be sharing a reflection and prayer with us.
This year’s walk will call for Justice for Refugees: Permanent Visas for all, Fair Processes and income support for people who are seeking recognition as refugees. While the change of government at the federal election last year has brought hope for more compassionate polices, thousands of refugees and people seeking asylum are still in limbo waiting for certainty about their future.
Walk with us this Palm Sunday at Walk for Justice for Refugees! Invite your friends, family and colleagues to join too!
When? Palm Sunday, 2nd April 2023
Time? Join the gathering at 1:00pm for a group reflection and prayer led by Fr Andy Hamilton SJ, with official Walk for Justice music and speeches starting around 1:30pm.
Where? We will be meeting at the far right side of the State Library of Victoria (near the Joan of Arc statue and next to Little Lonsdale St – you’ll see a large ‘CAPSA’, ‘Jesuit Social Services’ or ‘Xavier Social Justice Network’ or ‘CSSV’ banner).
Register: Let us know you will be joining us for the Palm Sunday Walk by registering here.
