Olympic Village Exodus Community

The Olympic Village Exodus Community (Exodus) is an unincorporated charitable organization. It was established in 1998 with the purpose of working together as a community within the parish of St Pius X, Heidelberg West. Advocating on behalf of those experiencing powerlessness, injustice and institutional abuse.

Currently, the live-in members of the Exodus Community are two Marist Brothers, Harry Prout and Doug Walsh and they volunteer their services to the Community and its ministries. Liz Wake is employed 3 days a week as Program Coordinator. Central to the ministries of the Community is inclusion of local people in all aspects of work. Exodus Community is currently supported by around 50 volunteers.

Exodus collaborates with many other local organizations and agencies in order to advocate on behalf of and support local people. Where possible, Exodus ministries and works are conducted in Teams of volunteers thereby supporting, teaching and encouraging each other.

The people we walk with in the area are on a very low income, some struggle with mental health issues, addiction, many single parent families and may have experienced family violence. We provide opportunities for education and volunteering amongst the marginalised.
