Workshops about Domestic Violence
You are invited to join the Catholic Diocese of Sale and Catholic Social Services Victoria as we launch an evaluation report detailing the work of the Shining A Light workshops conducted in 2022.
Supported by a grant from the Victorian Multicultural Commission, Shining A Light workshops were conducted over several months in 2022 through an innovative pilot program aimed at: raising awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence, providing information about how to helpfully respond and provoking thought about how we might work to prevent such violence from occurring within a faith community setting. With the Royal Commission into Family Violence making particular recommendations in relation to faith communities, CSSV and the Diocese of Sale have sought to take these recommendations seriously in implementing this program. These workshops, with a total of 127 attendees held across all 6 regions or the Diocese of Sale, were a collaboration between Catholic Social Services Victoria, Nicole Rotaru RSM and the Catholic Diocese of Sale.
The report to be launched provides detail of the pilot program, evaluation of the program’s effectiveness and recommendations for further phases.
We are very pleased that Bishop Greg Bennet will be joining us for this important event.
The report launch will lead into a special weekend in the Diocese of Sale planned by the Shining A Light Committee which includes liturgies throughout the weekend.
