In the lead up to NAIDOC Week 2022 (4-11 July) and in line with the theme for NAIDOC Week, Get Up! Show Up! Get Walking!, the Opening the Doors Foundation is inviting schools to show up by hosting Walk-a-thons with their students to raise money to support educational opportunities for Aboriginal children.

Schools from across Victoria are invited to walk laps around their ovals between 13-24 June to support Aboriginal kids’ access to the education of their choice. Once registered, your school can set a donation goal and a commitment for how many laps you aim to complete. Extend the fun by creating teams so students, teams and schools can compete against each other to reach the donation goal.

All money raised goes directly to families helped by Opening the Doors Foundation, enabling Aboriginal students to participate fully and equally in education, and support their families to make their own choices about how and where they want to educate their children.

To help inspire you, here’s what your funds can buy:

$20 Hat

$50 Stationary for a primary school child

$100 Sport shoes

$150 Calculator for a secondary school student

$200 Blazer for a secondary school student

$300 Uniform for a primary school student

$400 School camp

$500 VCAL subjects

$600 Booklist for a secondary student

$800 School uniform for a secondary student

$1,000 Laptop or IT needs for a secondary student

Schools are still able to join and anyone is welcome to sponsor a team or school.
