Honouring the Journey – Family Care Sisters farewelling Kewn Kreestha

Having made the difficult but assured decision to conclude the work of Kewn Kreestha, a Mass of Thanksgiving and celebratory afternoon tea were held at Sacred Heart Church, Croydon on Saturday 19 August 2023 to honour the journey of the Family Care Sisters at Croydon.

Reflecting on the prophetic work of the founder of the Family Care Sisters, Maude O’Connell, and important place that Kewn Kreestha has been for many women over its 82 year history, the Mass was an opportunity to celebrate what has been, honour the work of many over the years, and look to the next steps for the Family Care Sisters.

With the property in Croydon purchased in 1940 by the Family Care Sisters, it was named Kewn Kreestha – the Quiet of Christ. As a place of rest, safety and nurture it has provided countless women with significant support, particularly at times in their lives when this has been most needed.

Sr Michele Toussaint and Sr Jill Harding will be moving to Canterbury and will continue their work after a time of rest and reflection.
