From beginnings in France in the early 1800s, the St Vincent de Paul Society of Australia was founded in 1854. Commonly known in Australia as ‘Vinnies’, today they have over 45,000 members and volunteers across the country who give their time, care and compassion to assist the most vulnerable in our community.
Vinnies has more than 20,000 members and volunteers across Australia who visit and provide assistance to people in need.
Vinnies provides support to the disadvantaged and marginalised through material and financial assistance, dependency counselling and care, education support for children, emergency recovery, family violence services, and and housing and homelessness services.
