The online Reconciliation Conversation hosted by CSSV on Friday 5 August elicited much thought and discussion about the progress of reconciliation in Australia and further steps required. Special guests Vicki Clarke and Fr Frank Brennan SJ provided powerful insights into the current discussions of a Voice to Federal Parliament and the Victorian Treaty process, along with personal reflections and their wealth of experience over many years.
Vicki and Fr Frank challenged Catholic social services and the broader community to engage deeply with the reconciliation process and to explore, encourage and facilitate ways of listening to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait brothers and sisters – creating the local and regional ‘ears’ that can feed into a Voice to Parliament.
Special thanks to Vicki and Fr Frank for the time and expertise they generously shared, and to Eureka Street who compiled the following comments from the event.
