Members of Catholic Social Services Victoria may be interested to explore opportunities for fundraising that will be available with the new Victorian container deposit scheme (CDS Vic) that has been announced by the Victorian Government and will be introduced in November 2023. The scheme is aimed at increasing the recycling of drink cans, bottles and cartons, and reducing Victoria’s litter by up to half. A 10 cent refund will be provided for every eligible container returned to a refund collection point.
Charities and community groups will have the ability to fundraise by:
- collecting containers
- registering to receive donations of refunds from others
- initiating a collection drive
- applying to run a refund collection point.

Organisations that may be interested in operating a refund collection point can contact the Network Operator in their area (see table below).
To become a donation partner, contact the Scheme Coordinator, VicReturn who will direct you to the relevant Network Operator(s).
