Catholic Social Services Victoria joins our members, the sector, and others of good will inurging attendance at the upcoming Walk for Justice and Freedom for Refugees. The gathering will start at 2pm on Palm Sunday - April 10th at State Library of Victoria and then walk to the Park Hotel Swanston Street where 8 refugees were held for two years.
A clear highlight of Friday morning’s sessions at the national Catholic social services conference, Serving Communities with Courage and Compassion, held in Melbourne from 26-28 February, was the panel of young leaders of Catholic organisations who gave a fresh perspective to the notion of a ‘way forward in mission’.
The Victorian Bishops released a statement on 29 November 2016 condemning domestic and family violence in the strongest possible terms, and have called on the whole Church community to work together in preventing violence.
Listening, learning and Leading – a conference on the impact of mission and identity on what we do and how we do it was held on 9 and 10 October 2013. Keynote speakers included international author and speaker, Chris Lowney; CEO of Jesuit Social Services, Julie Edwards; Sr Margaret Mary Flynn and Bishops Eugene Hurley.
